Welcome to the Netherlands is an effective way for non-native speakers to become acquainted with Dutch society and prepare for the "Knowledge of Dutch Society" (KNM) section and the Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing language skills sections of the Civic Integration Exam at A2 level. Content and Practice Material
The third revised edition offers comprehensive preparation for the KNM exams by updating the final objectives of the exam since 2015. The method consists of 10 chapters covering topics such as Housing, Healthcare, Parenting, Education, Work, and History. Language skills are trained through vocabulary, conversation questions, and text comprehension.
The accompanying website offers interactive exercises and audiovisual materials to support the chapter themes. Extensive vocabulary lists are also available in four languages: Dutch, English, Turkish, and Modern Standard Arabic.
Author and Development
Marilene Gathier, founder of the language agency "De Taalvraag," works as an educational author and Dutch language trainer. Together with Dorine de Kruyf, she developed several teaching methods, including "Writing Skills" and "Better Reading ."
