Vincent B. Leitch is Professor Emeritus at the University of Oklahoma and an authority in contemporary literary criticism and theory. He wrote, among other works, American Literary Criticism from the 1930s to the 1980s and various other influential writings on literary theory and cultural criticism. William E. Cain is the Mary Jewett Gaiser Professor of English at Wellesley College and specializes in American literature and criticism.
