Lines may divide us, but hope will unite us. Nine-year-old Bruno is oblivious to the horrors of the Holocaust and the Final Solution being carried out by his country in Europe. His world exists only in the fact that he has had to leave his comfortable home in Berlin for a remote place with nothing to do and no one to play with. This changes when he meets Shmuel, a boy who lives on the other side of the fence and whose life unfolds in a strange parallel reality. Like the other people there, Shmuel wears striped pajamas as his uniform. Bruno's friendship with Shmuel takes him from innocence to revelation. In his journey of discovering what he is unintentionally a part of, he is irrevocably drawn into this horrific process.
