An Introduction

This practical study book by Jim Morrison provides essential information for those who want to understand how to deal with variability in technical situations. It covers basic statistics with typical engineering data, explained in simple numerical terms.

Description

This practical textbook is a valuable source of information for those who want to know how to deal with variability in any technical situation. In addition to explaining statistical methods, it also translates subject-specific terms into understandable Dutch.

Historically, a lack of communication between engineers and statisticians led to quality problems. This book highlights the importance of statistical insights in determining tolerances and process data.

It provides a bridge between statistical science and engineering, enabling engineers to better ensure product quality.

The content includes:

  • the nature of variability and sources of deviations;
  • engineering design and product development to prevent early errors;
  • production process control through control charts;
  • management and training focused on quality functions.

The index distinguishes between technical applications and explanations of statistical terms.

This practical textbook is indispensable for engineers who want to prevent quality problems for production and serves as a source for students and managers in engineering and quality management.

The book also supports instructors in teaching practical skills in quality management without in-depth mathematical theories.
