Season of Migration to the North Tayeb Salih is a literary classic that tells the story of a Sudanese man who returns to his village after studying in Europe. The book explores the complex relationship between the East and the West and the consequences of colonization. The novel is written in English and is published in a B-format paperback within the Penguin Modern Classics series.

Description

When a young man returns to his Sudanese village, he meets Mustafa Sa'eed, a mysterious figure who lived in London after the First World War. Mustafa’s obsession with migration to the West and his destructive relationships with women—who have their own fascinations about the East—lead to a tragic ending. The book highlights how Occidental and Eastern cultures influence and, at the same time, destroy each other, and it shows the depth of cultural alienation.
