Premiers Pas is a communicative method for learning French, specifically designed for adults. This method emphasizes oral communication. Students are encouraged to speak French through the use of numerous visual materials and varied exercises. During the course, they also learn to read and write texts useful during a stay in a French-speaking country.
The lesson package, Premiers Pas, consists of a textbook with an accompanying audio CD and an exercise book. The textbook is divided into ten chapters, each covering a central theme relevant to daily life in France. Topics such as family, food, and holidays are covered in detail. Furthermore, situations that also occur in other French-speaking countries are discussed. These chapters briefly explain the necessary grammar for conversation. A detailed grammar overview, as well as French-Dutch and Dutch-French vocabulary lists, are included at the back of the book.
The method works towards level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference. Students can track their progress in a portfolio, which provides insight into their learning process.
