The New Practical Chinese Reader (NPCR), the second generation of the Practical Chinese Reader series, offers comprehensive Chinese learning materials for adults outside of China. These resources have been influential in international Chinese education circles for over 30 years. The third edition focuses on a group of international students and tells interesting stories about their lives and friendships with Chinese friends and teachers in China. This revision aims to make it more accessible for students and more useful for teachers, while maintaining the pedagogy of "integrating structure, function, and culture." The goal is to develop students' comprehensive language skills, especially intercultural communication, through learning language systems, functions, and related cultural knowledge, as well as training in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The Chinese Character Workbook 1 complements the New Practical Chinese Reader (3rd Edition) Textbook 1. It provides comprehensive knowledge and training on Chinese characters, including recognition, writing, memorization, and usage.
