This textbook addresses the numerical solution of complex systems of equations, where a large number of unknowns is required to approximate reality as closely as possible. Written by C.H. Venner, the work focuses on Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication (EHL) and presents a stable and efficient solver for this complex problem. The authors analyze both intermediate problems and Hydrodynamic Lubrication and Dry Contacts, which are also valuable in their own right.
Description
For various reasons, mainly in order to approximate reality, many unknowns are needed in complex systems of equations. Classical techniques are often too slow, which is why MultiLevel methods are used to speed up convergence. This book describes the development and application of a stable and efficient solver for Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication, based on integro-differential equations. The complete code for a range of problems, including Poisson, Hydrodynamic Lubrication, Dry Contacts, and the EHL solver, is included in the appendix and written in ANSI-C.
