About the book
Literature in the world explores Dutch 'fine literature': written literature such as novels, stories, and poems, but also newspaper articles, advertising brochures, teaching materials, and websites. The book offers diverse perspectives to analyze this material, with the starting point that Dutch literature is always embedded in broader cultural, societal, and international theories.
Authors and contributions
The three editors are affiliated with the University of Amsterdam. Jan Rock is an associate professor of modern Dutch literature, known for his book Papieren monumenten (2014). Gaston Franssen is an associate professor of Literature & Diversity and author of the study Gerrit Kouwenaar en de politiek van het lezen (2008). Femke Essink is a PhD candidate and researches the image of the 1960s in literary adaptations.
In addition, Stephan Besser, Paul Bijl, Gaston Franssen, and Thomas Vaessens contribute from the University of Amsterdam. Esther Op de Beek (Radboud University) and Yra van Dijk (Leiden University) also provide valuable contributions.
