Amine is an Israeli surgeon of Palestinian descent who has always refused to take sides in the conflict between his birthplace and his adopted country. He has focused entirely on his career and his wife, Sihem, to whom he is deeply devoted. One day, however, Tel Aviv is shocked by a suicide bombing in a restaurant. Throughout this tragic event, Amine remains focused on his duty throughout the day, desperately operating on the victims. He looks forward to the peace he hopes to find in Sihem's arms that evening. But when he finally arrives home in the middle of the night, he discovers she is not there. Upon returning to the hospital, summoned by his friend Naveed, a high-ranking police officer, Amine encounters horrific news: not only is he being asked to identify his wife's mutilated body, but she is also being accused of being the perpetrator of the attack. Initially, Amine cannot believe that Sihem, who never seemed particularly attached to the Palestinian cause, would have been capable of such an act. However, he realizes he must accept the bitter truth when he reads the message she left for him. Determined to discover the cause of her inexplicable decision, he seeks out those who drove her to this desperate act and thus hears again and again a truth he cannot truly accept.
