About the author
Ian Morison developed his passion for astronomy at a young age and studied physics, mathematics, and astronomy at Oxford. Since 1970 he has been affiliated with the University of Manchester, where he teaches astronomy, computer science, and electronics.
He was chairman of the Society for Popular Astronomy and still advises on instrument selection within the association. Morison writes regularly for British magazines, provides a monthly sky overview for Jodrell Bank, and is active in education and popular science.
