Great Wall Chinese is a major project planned and organized by the Office of the Chinese Language Council International (NOCFL) of China. It serves as the primary teaching material at the Confucius Institutes, the centers for Chinese learning established worldwide. The goal of Great Wall Chinese is to develop students' Chinese communication skills through various teaching strategies, such as online multimedia course materials and CD-ROMs. This learning tool is suitable for both classroom instruction and independent study. "Essentials in Communication" is aimed at beginners in Chinese and covers topics such as personal information, essential survival communication, daily living, learning and working, and social activities, with a focus on meeting basic communication needs in daily life.
