Joeri's parents are divorced, and he misses his father, who now lives in Sweden, every day. The scent of a bottle of aftershave that once belonged to his father evokes memories that make Joeri feel like his father is with him for a moment. In these moments, he shares his thoughts and worries with his father, such as his feelings for his neighbor, Nesrin. Nesrin, whose mother has passed away, lives off adventures in old scrap cars her father keeps in his junkyard. She dreams of traveling to the valley in Turkey to visit her mother's grave. Together with Joeri, she meets Bruno Levie, an elderly Jewish man with his own desire to see the Valley of the Butterflies in Israel one last time. Driven by their personal desires, Joeri, Nesrin, and Bruno decide to make the journey of their dreams together.
