"Floris ende Blancefloer" ( Florian and White Flower) is a beautiful love story from Middle Dutch literature. The story was translated and adapted from French in the 13th century by Diederik van Assenede. Now, an adaptation in simple, contemporary Dutch is available, titled "Floris en Fleur," by Marian Hoefnagel. Storyline

The romantic story begins in Spain, in the king's palace. Floris, a handsome, dark-skinned Muslim prince, grows up with Fleur, a beautiful, blonde girl of Catholic descent.
