Design Fundamentals
This textbook by Iqbal Husain offers a comprehensive systems-level approach to electric and hybrid vehicles, focusing on technical aspects, mathematical relationships, and fundamental design principles. It covers current developments and technical insights, intended for engineers and students who want to delve into the technologies behind electric and hybrid vehicles.
Description
The third edition has been thoroughly revised and includes new chapters on simulation-driven design analysis of electric and hybrid vehicles, with special attention to traction inverters, electric machines, and motor control. In addition, trends such as wide bandgap power electronics and rare-earth permanent magnet motor drives are discussed. A new chapter focuses on charging stations and the interaction of vehicles with the electrical grid. Autonomous driving technology and the associated systems integration are also covered. This book provides a solid foundation for system-level simulations with tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, and PSIM.
The content is relevant for anyone involved in the development and application of electric and hybrid vehicles in an increasingly environmentally conscious market.
