Description
On a distant planet, all native beings communicate telepathically by projecting images that drive humans mad. The population therefore lives in walled cities and is grateful to the nighthorses, special horses that provide a telepathic buffer to their riders.
Story
When a winter attack takes heavy casualties, young Danny Fisher and his nighthorse Cloud lead the survivors to a shelter high in the snowy mountains. There they discover that their refuge is threatened by an unknown, dangerous enemy.
