Miguel Littín, a Chilean film director, shot over seven thousand meters of film to capture the reality of his country. In early 1985, despite an absolute ban on re-entry, he secretly returned to Chile. For six weeks, he filmed the country's situation after twelve years of military dictatorship. He took great risks and used disguises and ruses to remain incognito. The result was a four-hour television film and a two-hour feature film. Based on Littín's direct testimony, the renowned Colombian Nobel Prize laureate has written a book entirely in the journalistic style of the reportage genre.
