TIMI is a four-level project for the teaching of Portuguese as a Foreign Language (PLE) or Portuguese as a Second Language (PL2) for children attending primary education (age group 6 to 10 years).
The main aim of this project is to teach the foreign language in a communicative and playful way, in which grammatical content and vocabulary are presented gradually and systematically so that they can be absorbed unobtrusively.
Accompanied by a group of students and Timi—a friendly and mischievous turtle—the children are introduced to everyday topics such as school, family, and animals. This is intended to stimulate listening comprehension, reading, and oral and written expression. TIMI 2 is designed for students, with or without prior knowledge of Portuguese, who are learning PLE or PL2.
The project includes:
- Textbook with illustrated vocabulary, dialogues, games, and various exercises. It includes an audio CD with vocabulary presentations, comic strip dramatizations, oral exercises, and a song for each chapter featuring originally composed music and lyrics, allowing students to deepen and strengthen their vocabulary in a pleasant and playful way.
- Teacher's Guide provides step-by-step instructions for exploring each exercise, as well as numerous ideas and resources for each unit. It provides an overview of each unit's content and solutions to the exercises.
