The learning process is presented in three steps: understanding – practicing – producing, with the goal of being able to communicate quickly in French. Various documents are used as triggers, including written documents, audio clips, and iconographic material. An audio series is introduced, with supporting photos that clarify the situation. Attention is also paid to nonverbal communication and cultural attitudes, and the course offers an introduction to French or French-speaking culture.
Texto 3 is aimed at older teenagers and adults and corresponds to the CEFRL level B1. After completing Texto 3, students can take the DELF B1 exam. The course structure includes a workbook that complements the textbook, with a variety of activities to further reinforce knowledge: grammar, listening and reading comprehension, vocabulary, phonetics, and communication. Assessments are offered for every two files, including a full DELF test and a portfolio.
About this series: The teaching approach is clear and pragmatic, offering an active learning method divided into three phases: comprehension, practice, and production, applied in everyday situations to quickly communicate in French. This easy-to-use method goes straight to the core with a dynamic and reassuring progression: one lesson is equivalent to one double-page spread. Each lesson uses one or more starting documents (written, oral, or iconographic) and follows the structure of comprehension, practice, and production, encouraging students to actively explore the language and complete tasks.
Level 3 contains four lessons per file with various "initiative documents" (written, audio, and iconographic). An audio serial supported by photos gives the teacher the freedom to incorporate videos if desired (levels 1 and 2). Pages titled "Faits et gestes" (levels 1 and 2) allow for the exploration of nonverbal communication and cultural attitudes. The included DVD-ROM allows the teacher to use videos if desired (worksheets for both teacher and student are available for download).
A "Culture" page with authentic resources introduces students to an aspect of French or French-speaking culture related to the subject. The student textbook contains rich multimedia content (audio, videos, and a digitally enhanced student manual) as well as self-correction activities related to the video. The video is freely accessible on the TV5MONDE website.
