The Student's Book consists of eight units, each with four lessons, plus a beginning and review section. Each unit includes:
Unit Introduction: Short videos of people around the world to engage students with the unit's theme. Includes learning objectives based on the Global Scale of English.
Core Lessons (A and B): Focuses on the four skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) plus grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, all based on GSE learning objectives. This culminates in an assignment to apply the skills learned.
Functional Language Lesson ('How to...'): Learn and practice practical language skills for everyday use, such as ordering in restaurants, asking for help in shops, and obtaining information by phone. This lesson includes an interactive speaking exercise outside the classroom with feedback and a subsequent mediation lesson.
BBC Video Lesson: Includes preparatory activities to spark interest, activities based on language points from the videos, and writing and speaking exercises related to the video themes. Clips from the BBC archive and street interviews are shown alternately.
Review Section: Practice the language elements from the unit combined with listening and speaking activities to consolidate understanding.
