Each chapter introduces a person with a typical profession, such as a property manager, childcare worker, bus driver, two different shop assistants, a home care worker, and a café attendant or café owner. Students practice interpreting various documents relevant to working life and the professions in the book. They learn to understand receipts, emails, diagrams, vacation schedules, employment contracts, and other information.
The "Sju" books are primarily intended for adults who are learning at a slow pace at level B within SFI (Swedish for Immigrants), but are also suitable for secondary school students, for example, in IVIK (International Preparation Class). The vocabulary in these books is limited, but it is expected that students can already get by somewhat orally in Swedish. Now they focus on understanding the written language and graphic information that surrounds us every day.
