General Information
Moroccan Arabic, along with Berber, serves as the spoken language of most Moroccans in Morocco, Flanders, and the Netherlands. Although there are regional variations, the colloquial language around cities such as Rabat, Meknes, and Fez is considered standard. This non-written dialect differs significantly from formal Modern Standard Arabic, which serves as the written and official language of the Arab world.
