About The Story:
Eva's story chronicles the harrowing journey of a woman confronted with her past. Cruelly separated from her German Jewish parents at a young age, Eva lands in England with the promise of a new life. Between 1939 and the outbreak of World War II, nearly 10,000 Jewish children were taken from their families in Nazi-occupied Germany and placed with foster families in Britain.

In her groundbreaking play, Kindertransport, Diane Samuels captures the fate of one such child. Now widely recognized as a modern classic, this production is read and studied worldwide. Kindertransport won the prestigious Verity Bargate Award in 1992 and was performed by the Soho Theatre Company at the Cockpit Theatre in London in 1993. It also received the Meyer-Whitworth Award in 1993. Since then, the play has been revived several times, including a memorable production by the Watford Palace Theatre in 1996, which subsequently transferred to the West End.
