Good Practice: English for Doctors
The Good Practice course is specifically designed for doctors and medical students who want to improve their English communication skills. This course is suitable for classroom use but can also be completed as a self-study. It focuses on five elements of good communication: verbal communication, active listening, voice control, nonverbal communication, and cultural sensitivity.
Participants learn how to approach various situations with empathy, such as taking a history, delivering bad news, performing physical examinations, and describing treatment options. The course prepares physicians for interactions with diverse patient groups, from children to the elderly.
Through references to numerous experts in medical communication and realistic clinical scenarios, the course demonstrates how effective communication enhances the doctor-patient relationship. Students develop their confidence and become proficient English language professionals.
