"Gateway to Arabic 1" is essentially a foundational course in reading and writing Arabic script. Your initial introduction will be that the book is oriented right to left, to accustom students to reading Arabic books in a way they might consider backward. All titles in this series are structured similarly. The main goal of this book is for students to acquire sufficient foundational knowledge to be able to read Arabic texts vocally by the end. However, it does not teach vocabulary or grammar at this stage; that begins in book two of the series.
