To function well in the Netherlands, knowledge of Dutch society is essential. The Bagage program provides immigrants with a structured understanding of the Netherlands by exploring ten thematic chapters. This course material covers all requirements for the Knowledge of Dutch Society (KNM) section of the integration exam.
"Bag" encourages students to actively acquire knowledge. Each chapter provides questions for independent study, as well as discussion questions for group discussions. By engaging with questions, tables, and statements, students can develop their own opinions and compare them with those of others.
In addition, each chapter contains practical exercises that allow students to practice and apply their knowledge. A checklist and test are also available for each chapter; the checklist serves as a self-monitoring tool, allowing students to verify that all sections have been completed. The test offers the opportunity to review the material. These resources, including correction keys and a manual, are available on the accompanying website.
The seventh revised version of Bagage has been completely updated and aligned with the final objectives of the KNM component of the 2014 exam. The language level has been raised to A2/B1, and more insight questions have been added. The website has been expanded with links to practice exams and relevant web resources.
Bagage is ideal for highly educated NT2 learners who have at least A2/B1 level and want to integrate into the Netherlands. The material is also suitable for anyone who wants to learn more about Dutch society, regardless of their integration requirements.
